My friend who helps me with this blog belatedly read the ask whisky-on-the-crocs sent in asking about female role models in science and he wanted to post about these three lovely ladies he looks up to: Birute Galdikas, Dian Fossey, and Jane Goodall.

“Sometimes called the Trimates or Leakey’s Angels because all three were sponsored by anthropologist Louis Leakey to study non-human primates, they worked with orangutans, gorillas and chimpanzees respectively. All three made enormous contributions to biology, primatology, anthropology and conservation efforts for these and other species, and, although Dian Fossey was tragically killed while working in Rwanda in 1985 (murder unsolved), all three of these women continue to have an important impact in science and environmentalism.” -From my friend
